JOB SUMMARY - Position is responsible for the sale of aggregate products for a defined area of the Region (Northern California). Responsible for maximizing sales results in terms of profit, volume, price, market penetration and customer satisfaction. Will work closely with the Senior Area Sales Manager and the other state Area Sales Manager to develop and execute the strategic marketing plan for the state. The ASM will direct all sales and marketing activities, within his/her area, to accomplish the divisional sales objectives. Makes or influences management decisions on the areas pricing, marketing strategy and final quotes on major projects and inventory management. Will coordinate with operations management to understand the impact of proposed sales and other customer service issues within the area. The ASM will represent the company with major contractors, officials of federal, state and local government agencies, as well as assisting management by identifying growth opportunities for new and/or existing businesses. Provides support and guidance to sales representatives on sales techniques, procedures, etc.

1. Establishes sales goals and objectives and formulate strategies to achieve these goals individually and as a group.

2. Recommends changes in sales pricing structure, sales policies, and sales promotional activities to improve the company’s competitive position and promote increased sales penetration in the region.

3. Evaluates potential market and product expansion to evaluate market activity and seek new market applications.

4. Coordinates with operations management the impact of anticipated sales on production and other areas involving customer service.

5. Establishes and maintains regular contact with major highway and industrial contractors, federal, state and local governmental officials to evaluate our customer service. Represents the company through trade and industry associations and participate in issues that can impact the stone industry.

6. Identify growth opportunities and coordinate the necessary efforts for the development of new markets.
 

Experience, Education and Skills Required

B.S. Degree with 5+ years experience in sales. Must have knowledge of aggregate product applications and specifications. Must be able to establish price structure and market analysis. Negotiating, analytical and organizational skills are essential. Must be an effective communicator to deal with a diverse group of people both internally and externally.

Production managers set and achieve aggressive continuous improvement goals in established KPI’s. This position works in close concert with plant manager, quality and maintenance departments to produce quality products within cost in a safe and efficient manner while also within environmental constraints. Responsibilities and Expectations

The position involves, but is not limited to, the following tasks and duties:

Regularly evaluate Syar facilities for environmental compliance at assigned facilities and effectively communicates issues of non-compliance to management.

Train other staff in the company on relevant environmental issues and regulations, including related company policies.

Determines sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge of agriculture, chemistry, engineering principles and applied technologies.

Analyze and report measurements and observations of air, water, soil, and other sources to make recommendations on how best to clean and preserve the environment.

Perform technical research and utilize computers as aids in developing solutions to engineering problems.

Formulate plans to assure compliance with regulatory standards, and design programs, cost estimates and specifications to meet requirements.

Design and monitor waste disposal sites, preserves water supplies, and reclaims contaminated land and water.

Identify and analyze sources of pollution to determine their effects. Plan and conduct environmental research studies to develop methods of abating and/or controlling sources of environmental pollutants.

Represents Company to governmental agencies and accompany them on site visits to facilities.

Qualifications

  • Schedule, assign, plan, and monitor the work of maintenance shop personnel to ensure completion of the tasks in a timely and quality manner.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner by communicating anticipated jobs and providing input when stores stocks need to be increased or altered for upcoming jobs to maintain maintenance schedules
  • Together with the Maintenance Planner, develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of mechanical expenditures, and procedures for equipment maintenance to meet overall plant goals.
  • Prepare material and labor estimates to develop project cost estimates and plant budgets.
  • Monitor the acquisition and use of materials to meet productivity and budgetary goals.

Who we are looking for:

  • 8 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience which includes 1 year of supervisor experience; OR,
    • Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in mechanical repair and maintenance AND three years of relevant experience which includes 1 year of supervisory experience; OR,
    • Any equivalent combination of relevant experience, training and/or education
  • Prior experience working with large rotating heavy industry machinery and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP
